Meghan Markle’s 82-year-old father is reportedly under investigation for a heinous crime: possession of child pornography.

Thomas Markle, who has been estranged from Meghan for years, is currently recovering from surgery in Florida. But his home is in the Philippines, where Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, allegedly found a “vast stash” of photos and videos depicting child sex abuse.

According to The Sun, Thomas Jr was going through storage boxes when he accidentally stumbled on the sickening material. “I was horrified,” he said, leaving him with no choice but to report his father to Filipino and American authorities. Reports indicate they have now opened investigations.

Thomas Markle denies the allegations, dismissing them in the Daily Mail as “sick lies”.

Meghan wasted no time in putting out a statement. She said she was “deeply distressed at the news” and her “thoughts were with any children who may have been harmed”. That bit was expected. However, Meghan shared something surprising too.

In 2018, she revealed, “a letter was sent” to the Met Police in London that “made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father”. The letter, she continued, was shared with her and “I was given assurances that these were being investigated”.

Meghan added: “I hope it can now be understood that… any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.”
